Nexus Line for 2012 includes version by Sony, LG, and Samsung

It has been widely rumored that the next versions of the Nexus would be by various OEMs and that there could be as many as 5 new devices. The Nexus 7 and the Nexus Q were officially unveiled earlier this year meaning there would need to be 3 more Nexus variants to complete the rumor. It has been assumed that Samsung would do a refresh of their hardware for the next phone version of Nexus. This makes since because Samsung has had their hands in the last two versions of the phone. LG and Sony have each been thrown in the mix now. Japanese mobile provider NTT Docomo has included a Sony Xperia Nexus, an LG Optimus Nexus, and a Samsung Galaxy Nexus II to their release lineup.

What do you think of the potential of having several different versions of the Nexus device. Personally I think it is great that we will have more options when it comes to an unlocked bootloader, but I think I would prefer one Nexus device. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Gotta love options, but this may fragment the development community’s efforts. On the other side, it could grow the community.

I felt the same way that it may fragment the dev community not all devs will be able to grab all three devices. My guess is that they would go for the Samsung device first.
