Who will it be for the Next Nexus LG or HTC?

The Race for who will become the next Nexus phone manufacturer is in full swing. It has been heavily rumored that Samsung will be the manufacturer of the very first Google Nexus Tablet and many sources have already ruled them out as the next phone manufacturer. Over the last several weeks it has been speculated that LG would become the next manufacturer, but yesterday HTC announced that they are also fighting to have the first Jelly Bean handset! Jeff Gordon (not the racer) Htc’s GOC manager told Tech Radar that Google is no where near making their decision on who will be the next Nexus manufacturer.

“Google hasn’t chosen its Nexus partner for (Android) Jellybean as yet. So right now all the manufacturers are crossing their fingers.”

Of course it is so early in the race who knows we could eventually hear from the CEO’s of Motorola and Samsung with reports that their names are also in the basket. Whatever happens I’d like to have this back on the VZW network, but as botched up as that release was I doubt we will see that!

PSA DroidX .621 update unrootable so far!

DVD to Droid X

This is a quick Public Service Announcement. The Droid X update was officially rolled out Over The Air today. Hopefully you didn’t accept it. It does cripple the ability to apply an SBF. Also it has been reported today that this new build is not rootable, and that this may even have future implications for all motorola device. I would not advise that you take an update atleast until their is a viable SBF method to provide you with a safety net. However if you have no intrest in root or modding then you may very well want to go ahead and grab the update as it is reported to have tons of bug fixes.

LG Announces the Optimus 4X HD a BEAST of a phone!

I am normally not a big LG fan. Way back when i had an LG chocolate that crapped out at least 10 times. So that was my last LG phone, but LG has really come a long way since then! LG just could not wait until Mobile world congress to announce the last phone in the Optimus lineup to be released in early 2012. This phone looks very stout. It is sporting a 4.7″ IPS HD display that is True HD 720p, a 1.5gHZ quad core Tegra 3 processor, 8megapixel rear facing camera, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 1GB of camera plus 16GB of internal storage, a pretty sizeable battery at 2150mAh, only 8.9 mm thick, and this will be LG’s first device to ship with Android 4.0 ICS.

DroidX update to .621 breaks the ability to SBF to previous versions!

Droid X modders beware! Apparently if you accept the OTA .621 update you wont be able to SBF to previous builds. Lots of DroidXers who accepted the latest version update have reported paperweighting their phone after trying to SBF after receiving the OTA update! This is your warning do not attempt to SBF until a newer version is released for this device! Maybe if we are lucky a dev will release a prerooted flashable zip for the latest version. P3Droid and TeamBlackHat have been good about this in the past, but I have not seen anything from them lately on the DroidX. So just be cautious.

AOKP Android Open Kang Project ROM coming to the DroidX!

Over the past few days since the announcement of the Droid X update that will soon be rolling out it seems like there has been a resurgence in Droid X development! Yesterday developer ZEROSPEED8 released his version of AOKP. If you have not been following development on the Galaxy Nexus AOKP is the Rom that has taken the GNEX community by storm! It has really brought a ton of inovation to the dev community. Team Kang has come up with lots of original custom mods which are available in the toolbox that comes with the rom. The version that was released was pulled pretty quickly because some folks where running into bootloops. So the Rom is not available this second but should be rereleased any day. This is super exciting news. Hopefully we will see many more ICS ports coming to the DX!

Grab the Rom when available here!

Droid X Receiving an update 4.5.621 Lots of fixes but no ICS

The Droid X lives, or at least Motorola has decided to finally knock out some bugs in this latest bug fixer. This latest update to 4.5.621 promises to get rid of lots some reboot issues, fix camera settings, reduced out of memory errors, and some other very much needed fixes. This phone has been in action in my home for almost two years now. It was one of the first super smartphone devices. I remember thinking to myself when i first purchased the DroidX, how can it get any better than this! We know that this update will not be ICS, but we can hold out with hope knowing that Motorola continues to push out updates!
