Will z4 root work with the new update to droid x version 2.3.3 system version 4.5.596?

    • http://droidmodderx.wordpress.com droidmodderx

Unfortunately no…you will need to sbf back to froyo…root via z4 install d2bootstrap, then flash the twopart patched 4.5.596 if you want rooted gb

How long does it take for the z4root to root the phone? Mine is not going as quick as yours did in the video.

    • http://droidmodderx.wordpress.com droidmodderx

Savage… Up to 10 minutes.. It only works on froyo… If u can’t get it to root then you need to plug the phone into usb

  • RoadDawgBlues

I can hold my droidx up next to the computer screen and do everything exactly as instructed, watch the phone process through screens identical to the one on the video up to the point where the phone on the video restarts itself. At that point, my droidx’s screen returns to the download menu and never reboots. The superuser icon is not in my apps list. I can manually restart the droidx, but the superuser icon is still not there. Yeah, it’s just that simple…..with everyone else’s phone but mine.

    will this work for .621?

    • Anonymous

      It will not

    • Anonymous

If your DroidX is already on 4.5.621, there are two ways to root it–one is to flash a Milestone ROM (which can be flashed over 4.5.621 and does not prevent itself from being overwritten); the other is to run an EzSbf-style routine from Linux.

This page provides instructions for use as well as links to both the root utility .iso image and to UNetBootin (which allows you to boot to the Linux root tool image on a Windows device from thumb drive, or SD card). Of course, you could always burn the .iso to optical disc–as God intended–and boot from optical drive.
