Samsung has just announced the all new Exynos 9810 which is expected to debut in the upcoming Galaxy S9. The US and China of course will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, but other markets will be powered by the new Exynos chip! The chip is based on Samsung’s second gen 10nm process which brings features like faster LTE and support for deep learning image processing.
Samsung also says the chip will be faster and with an emphasis on improved multitasking. The new chip features 8 cores with four third generation custom cores capable of clock speeds of up to 2.9GHz. The other four cores will be efficiency cores to help improve battery consumption when high power is not necessary. According to Samsung the single core performance will be twice as fast while the multicore performance will be about 40% faster than previous chips.
Neural network based deep learning and separate security processing for storing personal data may mean that we will see iPhone X quality face unlock on the Galaxy S9. The Exynos 9810 also features a 1.2Gbps LTE modem which is an industry first. Dedicated image processing will mean improved photos from the camera on the S9. The S9 is expected to be released very soon even as early as CES. What features most excite you about the new Exynos chip for the S9?
